Magnet therapy in patients with Psoriasis
With magnetotherapy in patients presenting psoriasis
Autores: Dra. Maria Zoila Perez Rodriguez, MD. Leopoldina Lincheta Falcon, Dr. Elisa Rodríguez Hernández Central Military Hospital "Dr. Carlos J. Finlay". Habana, Cuba.
SUMMARY
Objective: To determine the usefulness of the magnetic fields in the treatment of psoriasis.
Methods: A study was conducted quasi
Conclusions: We found that the magnet was a useful option in the treatment of patients with psoriasis.
Keywords: magnetic therapy, treatment of psoriasis.
DISCUSSION
In psoriasis there is a predominance of sex, but it is described to be from the third decade of life when it appears more frecuencia. (1)
Emphasizes that a group of patients achieved the whitening of the lesions, three patients achieved clear their injuries at the end of the observation period and blanked in the first 15 days patient. The greatest response was obtained with the application of 30 sessions.
When performing an analysis of the response to treatment and the frequency of clinical forms, shows that the most common is the vulgar, (2) which in this research was 48% of cases, followed by the location in the trunk, 35 and fewer patients in the scalp.
The locations on the scalp and vulgar clinically were those which had a better response to treatment, in these there was no worse or no transponder case. 88.2% of patients in the scalp location bleaching reached. Described in both clinical forms are less affected life (3) quality and thus respond better to treatment.
Pruritus regarding the results were clinically relevant, given its importance to the quality of life of patients.
Based on the analysis of the possible effects of magnetic fields, it is considered that action by different mechanisms may be at the basis of the changes, such as: anti-inflammatory, reparative cell 13 and its influence on the immune system. (3,6,7)
In vitro studies suggest that the magnetic field can modulate the biological activity of the cell, through changes in the cell membrane of the sodium-potassium pump and reactions químicas.(14)
It also modifies the structure of the cell membrane and interferes or is involved in the biochemical cascade involved in cell adhesion, thereby influencing the immune cell recognition of antigens epithelial surface due to possible conformational changes in structural glycoproteins membrana.(15)
These effects and action on immune-based inflammatory processes where T lymphocytes involved (16,17) could help improve the skin lesions, most evident in the present study, for injuries of the scalp.
CONCLUSION:
It is considered that magnet was useful in treating patients with psoriasis.
